Castiglione del Lago
Officially one of the prettiest towns in Italy, Castiglione del Lago juts into lake Trasimeno like an enormous ocean liner. Its dusk silhouette can be seen from miles around.
Filled with numerous bars and restaurants, the most famous being La Cantina, whose terrace tables will definitely need booking in high summer.

There are fabulous views from all around the town, but especially from the castle.
There are various festivals throughout the year, the tulip one in April is particularly good.
Presumably this was a cactus festival, I wasn't there for this one.
The town hall, which is free to visit, can be booked for weddings and other events.
Though you'll need a specialist to guide you through that.
